CNC Swiss Setup Machinist – Citizen

URGENT HIRING!  If you are an experienced Swiss CNC Machinist who enjoys solving machining problems and producing precision components, we want to talk with you!  We have an exciting opportunity that involves direct support for our Cryogenics, Quantum Computing and Test & Measurement markets.

The Phoenix Company of Chicago, Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC Swiss Setup Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team in Naugatuck, CT.  Phoenix is a vertically integrated manufacturer of high-performance RF connectors and cable assemblies serving demanding aerospace, military, commercial, test & measurement, and advanced technology applications.  This is an important hands-on manufacturing position for an experienced machinist who takes pride in producing extremely precise components and who can independently set up, operate, troubleshoot, and optimize Swiss CNC equipment.

What You Will Do:

  • Set up and operate citizen CNC Swiss type machines for precision production
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Select and set cutting tools, guide bushings, work holding, and tooling
  • Set and adjust tool offsets and machine parameters
  • Perform first piece and in process inspection
  • Use micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, optical and other precision inspection equipment
  • Troubleshoot dimensional, tooling, chip-control, bar feed, and machine issues
  • Make production adjustments to maintain dimensional control
  • Optimize feeds, speeds, tooling, and cycle times when appropriate
  • Monitor machine performance and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production to resolve manufacturing issues
  • Help document and improve setup procedures and standard work

What We Are Looking For:

Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated Swiss CNC machining experience
  • Production CNC setup experience
  • Ability to read precision engineering drawings
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to independently perform setups, make program adjustments, troubleshoot, and bring a job into production.
  • Commitment to quality and dimensional control

Preferred:

  • A minimum of 5 years Citizen Swiss CNC experience
  • Other Swiss type CNC experience such as Tsugami, Star, Nomura, or Miyano
  • Experience with live tooling, sub spindle operations, bar feeders, and guide bushing work
  • Experience machining small, high precision components
  • Experience improving tooling, setups, cycle times, and process stability
