
Human Resource Specialist
Part Time Non-Exempt (Hourly)
The Human Resource Specialist will assist with day-to-day HR activities, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, and labor law compliance. This position requires a proactive problem-solver who can foster a positive work environment, improve departmental communication, and ensure our team’s needs are met.
Education and Experience:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of human resource experience.
- Industry Experience: Direct HR experience in a manufacturing, production, or related environment is required.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, HRIS software, and payroll/attendance systems.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally across all levels of the organization.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Onboarding & Training: Conduct new employee orientations, guiding new hires through company benefit offerings and ensuring a welcoming first-day experience.
- Employee Relations: Provide firsthand support to staff and management, fostering morale and coordinating the resolution of workplace concerns.
- Administration: Assists employees with employee health insurance elections, retirement plan enrollments, completion of FMLA/Disability paperwork and coordinates filings for first report of injuries to worker’s compensation carrier.
- Compliance & Policy: Administer State and Federal Laws governing the workplace, ensuring compliance and accurate documentation.
- Recruitment: Post job openings, schedule interviews, review application/resumes, evaluate applicant skills and properly log candidates for EEO-1 compliance.
- Records & Systems: Maintain accurate personnel records, utilizing HRIS systems and attendance/payroll systems effectively.
- Performance Management: Coordinate evaluations, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement processes
Success Factors:
- Detailed knowledge of federal and state applicable laws concerning employment.
- Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration, effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent people skills.
- Ability to work well with all levels of management; sensitive to a diverse workforce with a wide variety of ages, cultural backgrounds, and experiences.
