
Mechanical Design Engineer I

The Phoenix Company team is seeking an entry level Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of RF/Microwave connector applications with our growing electronics business. In this role, you will be learning the daily design activities to help develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing methods and solutions that meet customer application requirements. Through cross functional team interaction, you will evaluate customer needs and learn how to execute daily engineering projects that optimize design performance and cost. This role will require a strong desire to learn and attend product, process, and other introductory trainings to master design basics of company products.
Education and Experience:
For this dynamic role, the ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering coupled with 1-3 years of mechanical engineering experience and/or Master’s or Doctoral Degree that provides the equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. This role requires prior 2D/3D drawing modification experience for executing design projects. Basic computer skills and general working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and AutoCAD are helpful in completing projects and their applications.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Learn detailed work instructions for performing engineering procedures, documentation, and departmental processes.
- Learn technical knowledge of company products and manufacturing methods to broaden level of expertise.
- Through mentorship with higher level engineers, learn and complete design basics of company products, engineering processes and manufacturing methods to carry out the design task.
- Execute low to medium level complexity projects and problem solving with input and guidance from others.
- Able to complete low to medium number of projects.
- Attend recommended introductory trainings and has willingness to learn and take part in growth opportunities. Actively pursue new informant to broaden expertise from more experienced engineers.
- Offer improvements to departmental procedures and documentation.

- Individuals will be required to sit for longer periods of time performing tasks within engineering design software.
