65 Series Size 5 PkZ® ARINC RF Contacts: High-Frequency Connectivity for Aerospace Applications


Size 5 RF contacts are specialized coaxial contacts designed for use in ARINC 404/600 connectors, enabling high-frequency signal transmission in aerospace environments. These contacts are critical for systems requiring robust RF performance, such as radar, satellite communication, and advanced avionics. Unlike standard power contacts, these RF contacts are required to maintain impedance control and minimize signal loss at high frequencies. At present, the industry-standard design of Size 5 contacts limits its performance capabilities to 3 GHz maximum. The Phoenix Company of Chicago, Inc. developed a new series of Size 5 PkZ contacts with improved performance, especially at a high frequency range.

65 Series Size 5 PkZ Contacts are designed to operate over a frequency range of DC to 18 GHz maintaining 50 Ohm impedance response. These contacts are designed to fit in ARINC 404 and ARINC 600 connector housings and offer a mating tolerance of .110”, maintaining a constant impedance response. These 65 Series Size 5 PkZ contacts can operate over a temperature range of -55 ºC to +200 ºC making them suitable for aerospace applications and are designed for a wide variety of cables, especially for aerospace and avionics applications providing high and reliable performance.
